The Big Beat 2011

The Big Beat 2010

Here's a video of the event from last year.

Columbus Percussion will be hosting The Big Beat again this year. The event is set for Sunday, November 6 from 4pm – 6pm at Ft. Hayes Middle School. Come out and help raise money for Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation which supports children’s development of self-esteem and strong learning skills through music and educational programs. You can download a pledge sheet here. Or you can download an individual donation form here. To register for the event purchase a ticket here.

The sound of drums will rumble across North America once again on Sunday, November 6 as 16 Five- Star member drum shop locations participate in The Big Beat and raise money for worthwhile causes. Billed as the world’s largest multi-city drum set event, last year’s Big Beat drew 1653 drummers and percussionists with about 6000 spectators and raised more than $54,000 for charity.

Each city will have a variety of fun events throughout the day, including guest appearances by major- name drummers, World’s Fastest Drummer contests and raffles and giveaways of percussion gear from the industry’s best-known manufacturers, with top Big Beat pledge-raisers in each city being awarded special prizes. There will also be a national raffle with the grand prize-winner getting a bass drum head signed by Charlie Watts of the Rolling Stones! But, the highlight of the day will be at 5:45PM Eastern time when all of the drummers in each of the 16 cities play the same groove in unison. This feat will be achieved through a video internet connection, with the director in each city following the conductor in Seattle.

See why nearly 10,000 people have watched this video…you gotta come out for the drum clinics and “Big Beat” unison drumming!

Here’s a link to the play-along from this year’s Big Beat. I’m posting additional videos as well, including segments of the drum clinics.
